Both rows come from Sennheiser's own datasheet tables, which enumerate codecs by name.

The two-list wrinkle

The MOMENTUM 4 product page carries two versions of its codec story. The highlight card reads "Supported Audio Codecs: aptX® Adaptive, AAC, SBC." The datasheet below it reads "Codecs: SBC, AAC, aptX™, aptX adaptive™" — classic aptX appears in the datasheet and not on the card. Same page, same manufacturer, two lists.

This is exactly why this site quotes datasheet lines rather than marketing cards: the shorter list is a sales summary, the longer list is the record. The MOMENTUM 5 page shows the same structure, with the datasheet again carrying the fuller enumeration (seven entries including aptX HD and aptX lossless) and the card naming the highlight tier.

The wider Sennheiser record

Qualcomm's certified list for Sennheiser runs twenty-four entries across two pages. The current page: both MOMENTUM over-ears, the True Wireless line (MTW3, MTW4, Momentum TWS 5), both ACCENTUM models (over-ear and True Wireless), the two Sport models, and — the interesting category for a stereo bench — the BTD 600 and BTD 700 USB adapters. The BTD 700's certified page describes a next-generation USB dongle designed to deliver high-definition, low-latency wireless audio, featuring aptX Lossless: Sennheiser sells the source side of the ladder too, for computers that don't send aptX on their own.

The legacy page carries the CX and HD 4xxBT lines, the PXC 550, the BT T100 transmitter and the first-generation MOMENTUM Wireless, Free and True Wireless — aptX certification at Sennheiser goes back years. The HDB 630, on the current page, carries the explicit line "Sennheiser HDB 630 supports aptX Adaptive" — and its certified page goes on to describe the pairing with "a high-resolution source such as Sennheiser's BTD 700 Bluetooth adapter," which is as close to a worked example of the aptX ladder as the certification record gets.

What this means in practice

• Android or PC source with aptX: the MOMENTUM line negotiates the aptX family, with the M5 reaching the HD and Lossless tiers where the source delivers them — the Lossless tier being a Snapdragon Sound feature, not a standalone codec.
• iPhone source: AAC, as with every brand in this section; the aptX entries sit unused.
• Choosing between generations: the M5's additions are codec-ladder and Bluetooth-version steps (5.2 → 5.4); the 5.4 profile covers what the version bump itself changes.
