Unlike Android, the codec set is identical across models — the iPhone 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 lines all behave the same. Carrier, region and storage don't change it either. If a spec sheet claims an iPhone "supports LDAC", it's wrong.
What this means in practice
- iPhone → Bluetooth headphones: AAC is the ceiling. Premium "LDAC headphones" fall back to AAC with an iPhone source.
- iPhone → home stereo via Bluetooth receiver: still AAC from the phone. A receiver's LDAC support only benefits Android/PC sources — but a good DAC and clean RCA output still matters for the analog stage.
- You want LDAC quality from an iPhone library: the honest answer is you can't over Bluetooth — use an Android/PC source, or go wired/airplay-class streaming instead.
