The omission is the finding. Where Sony's help guides and Sennheiser's datasheets enumerate their codecs, JBL's paper for its flagship over-ear stops at the profile layer — buyers comparing codec support line-by-line will find no line to read.
The codec set, secondhand
With the manufacturer silent, the citable record is third-party. PCMag's review states it directly: the Tour One M2 headphones "are compatible with Bluetooth 5.3 and work with just the AAC and SBC codecs" — the universal A2DP pair, no aptX, no LDAC. That single-source status is recorded here as what it is: a review line, not a datasheet row, and the page labels it accordingly.
Qualcomm's certified list adds a bracket: JBL's four entries there are Synthesis home-theater processors — the SDR-58, SDR-38, SDP-55 and SDR-35 — and no headphones. Certification absence is not disproof, but for a brand whose flagship runs SBC and AAC per its reviews, nothing on the list contradicts it.
The LE Audio lane
The forward-looking part of the Tour One M2's record is real and official — and both pieces arrived after launch. The product page's update log carries the lines: version 5.6.0, dated November 29, 2024, "Add Auracast support"; version 6.1.0, dated May 30, 2025, "Enable LE Audio Unicast that allows for connecting to LE audio enabled devices using the LC3 codec." A classic-codec headphone gained the LE Audio path by update rather than by new silicon — and the spec table's "Supports Auracast: Yes" row now has a paper trail explaining when that capability showed up.
The Auracast entry puts the Tour One M2 on the receiving side of broadcast audio — the same listening-side capability Samsung documents for its Buds3 line. For a Bluetooth 5.3 version profile that carries the LE foundations, this is the lane where the hardware earns its version number.
What this means in practice
- Codec shopper: the citable answer is SBC and AAC, from review coverage; buy assuming that ceiling and the paper trail supports you.
- LE Audio early adopter: the update log is the story — an existing pair that gained LC3 and Auracast listening after release, with dated entries on the product page.
- Home listening: AAC carries the link from iPhones; Android sources negotiate AAC here rather than a hi-res codec, unlike the Sennheiser and Sony flagships in this section.
Version and profile numbers are not codecs. Bluetooth 5.3 says what the radio and stack can do; the codec line says what your music travels in. When a spec sheet prints one and not the other, the missing line is the answer — and this page records it as such, with dates.
